SYMANTEC ANNOUNCES Q&A WRITE FOR WINDOWS

 CUPERTINO, Calif., April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC) today introduced Q&A Write version 3.0 for Windows, a low-priced, memory-efficient word processor for Windows. Providing the functionality of word processors costing hundreds of dollars more, Q&A Write for Windows gives users the means to create professional quality documents quickly and easily on their desktop or laptop computer. Direct mail merge with popular database formats lets users create personalized documents, letters and envelopes instantly.
 KEY FEATURES
 -- Small footprint, 1.7 MB hard disk space, minimum install;
 4MB full install.
 -- Communications enabled, offers direct fax and electronic mail
 support.
 -- Extensive mail-merge capabilities with Q&A, Paradox and dBASE
 files.
 -- Transparent file conversions from Microsoft Word and WordPerfect.
 -- SRP only $69.95 -- a great value, available now.
 "Q&A Write for Windows gives users all of the muscle and none of the fat," said Julie Bingham, Symantec's vice president of productivity applications. "Instead of just adding more features, our research helped us determine which features consumers and business professionals need and use every day. By fine-tuning the product to meet those needs, we've reduced memory and disk space requirements without sacrificing power and functionality. And at $69.95, Q&A Write is easily the best value in Windows word processing today."
 Tops for Laptops
 Q&A Write is the perfect product for the mobile computing environment's limited memory and hard disk space. Occupying as little as 1.7 MB of hard disk space, Q&A Write for Windows takes up a fraction of the disk space of other word processors. Fully installed, Q&A Write occupies 4 MB of hard disk space, as opposed to 15 MB for MS Word, 15 MB for Ami Pro, and 12 MB for WordPerfect. Q&A Write is compact without sacrificing the features users really need, such as the spell checker, thesaurus and the ability to insert graphics, text, and tables. Automatic, transparent file conversions from Microsoft Word and WordPerfect eliminate any problem with varying home, office and laptop word processing standards. A unique "fat mouse" pointer eases portable computing by increasing pointer visibility on laptop screens.
 Reach Your Customers
 Q&A Write lets home office and small business users reach their customers easily and efficiently via its robust mail-merge capabilities. Users can generate personalized mailings using names, addresses and other information from database programs like Q&A, dBASE and Paradox. A "sort and retrieve" function simplifies the creation of targeted mailings by letting users select entries from the merge database based on various criteria -- all without leaving the familiar Q&A Write interface.
 Keeps You Connected
 With direct fax and e-mail support, Q&A Write offers users an easy way to stay in touch with clients and customers. Documents created in Q&A Write can be faxed directly through a fax modem. As an added convenience, Q&A Write connects directly to popular electronic mail products like cc:Mail and Microsoft Mail.
