 SYMANTEC ANNOUNCES EXCLUSIVE
 SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT FOR CHINA
 CUPERTINO, Calif., Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing to penetrate new markets worldwide, Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC) today announced an agreement with Da Tung International Inc., an authorized Chinese distributor, to exclusively sell Symantec's complete line of software products in the People's Republic of China. Under the terms of the agreement, sales of the products will begin in 1993.
 "China is just beginning to develop as a software market and its emergence will be strategically important in the 90s," said Gordon E. Eubanks, Jr., Symantec's president and CEO. "Based on our experience of penetrating new markets and conducting business worldwide, we are confident that our association with China will be successful."

"The number of PC users in China continues to grow at an exponential rate, and the demand for quality software will be equally high. Symantec's expertise in international markets will ensure its success in this venture."
