SYMANTEC'S pcANYWHERE FOR WINDOWS WINS PC/COMPUTING MVP AWARD

CUPERTINO, Calif., Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC) today announced that The Norton pcANYWHERE for Windows has been honored with the PC/Computing Most Valuable Product (MVP) award. Considered one of the computer industry's most sought-after recognitions, pcANYWHERE for Windows won in the communications software category.
"The honor of PC/Computing's MVP award reaffirms our dedication to provide software solutions that offer day-in and day-out productivity," said Ellen W. Taylor, Symantec's vice president and general manager of the Peter Norton Product Group. "It is well-deserved recognition to the pcANYWHERE for Windows user for making the best possible product selection and to the entire product development team for consistently delivering elegant and usable software designs."
To select the MVP finalists, the PC/Computing editors considered every major product or significant product upgrade introduced in the past 12 months. A dozen semi-finalists were chosen in each category by evaluating each product's usability, technological innovation and effectiveness in helping business users get work done as productively as possible. The semi-finalist products were evaluated head-to-head, narrowing the list to three, then finally to one. Editors, testers and writers spent hundreds of hours evaluating the products for each category.
The Norton pcANYWHERE allows users to access and control a host personal computer from a PC in a remote location. The native Windows application provides complete remote control of any DOS or Windows application; general communications with a simple graphical interface; and drag and drop file transfers --- without leaving the Windows environment. The program includes both LAN and serial capabilities in one package and has a suggested retail price of $199.
