 SURVEY SHOWS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIANS SCORE HIGH ON SOCIAL ETIQUETTE
 RATING; ON-THE-STREET RESEARCH REVEALS PERSONAL 'UH-HUH!' INDEX
 LOS ANGELES, April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The following is being issued on behalf of Diet Pepsi:
 Southern California residents exhibit a free-spirit, creative problem-solving skills and social concern in their approach to modern living. More than 60 percent of those surveyed by Diet Pepsi, as part of National "Uh-Huh!" Month, received average or above average scores on the personal "Uh-Huh!" index. The "Uh-Huh!" index measures the amount of imagination, social awareness and originality an individual displays in everyday life.
 Diet Pepsi has commissioned a series of polls this month to determine different levels and types of "Uh-Huh!" in Southern California. This past weekend, throughout Los Angeles and Orange County, people participated in the latest survey by reviewing and selecting potential solutions to typical situations Southern California residents face.
 Such problems included: showing up at a black-tie optional wearing jeans and a T-shirt to find everyone else wearing black-tie; being stuck in traffic on the freeway and running late for an important appointment; and how to behave when you discover the person standing in front of you in the line for a movie is a celebrity.
 The survey revealed a self-assuredness in Southern Californians, exhibited by their willingness to stand up for personal beliefs, individual flair and a dedication to community needs. Results in the following:
 -- If you are standing next to a celebrity, give the celebrity your autograph;
 -- If you are waiting forever at a fancy restaurant table, call the nearest pizza company and ask for delivery at your table;
 -- Sing, dance, even rap if you have to, to keep a party from becoming routine;
 -- If you find a $5 bill on the ground, either donate it to a worthy cause or buy a lottery ticket, sharing the rewards with others;
 -- If you mistakenly dress in a T-shirt and jeans for a black-tie occasion, hold your head high and have a great time anyway; and
 -- If you have recently moved to a new neighborhood, seize the initiative by organizing a block party and getting everyone together.
 Miriam Schiffer, Pepsi-Cola-Los Angeles spokesperson, said the results demonstrate that the spirit which sets Southern California apart from the rest of the country is reflected by individuals throughout the Southland. "When in doubt, or in a potentially embarrassing moment, the people here will take a somewhat different, very hip approach to the situation."
 Now that's "Uh-Huh!"
