SUPRA MEDICAL REPORTS WOUND TREATMENT COSTS SLASHED

CHADDS FORD, Pa., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Supra Medical Corp. (AMEX: SUM.EC) announced it is broadening its topical hyperbaric oxygen line through the introduction of another single usage wound treatment product.
Evelyna Dyson-Cantwell, the company's president, commented, "Prolonged wound healing will soon become a much cheaper procedure through the use of our disposable flexible chamber designed to suffuse wounds on the extremities with oxygen. We see substantially lower manufacturing, inventory, shipping and storage costs with no loss in medical efficacy. Being disposable, the risk of cross contamination has been eliminated, and patient comfort has been considerably enhanced."
"The new Disposable Oxychamber(R) capitalizes 10 years of topical oxygen research conducted by Madalene C.Y. Heng, MB, FRACP, FACD, who is a professor of medicine/dermatology at the UCLA School of Medicine," said Dyson-Cantwell. "This is a perfect melding of Dr. Heng's research and experience with our own clinical studies and product development work." Heng, Dyson-Cantwell and Jack Cantwell are the co-inventors of the patent-protected Disposable Oxychamber.
Supra Medical Chief Executive Officer Jack Cantwell observed, "The markets being addressed by the Disposable Oxychamber are substantial. Well over 2 million neuropathic and venous ulcers occur annually in the U.S. alone. Our plastic chamber addresses the need for medical cost- effectiveness by being inexpensive and significantly speeding wound healing time."
Cantwell further commented, "This broadening of our disposable topical hyperbaric oxygen product line comes at a most auspicious time. We are entering the clinical testing phase in London of our patented Oxyhealer(R) which is designed specifically for the bedsore treatment market. We estimate that the annual incidence of bedsores in the U.S. market may exceed 5 million. The average length of treatment is estimated at 56 days so that our single usage disposable device addressees a substantial opportunity. Having two closely related products to offer should shrink our marketing costs."
Supra Medical Corp. develops and markets proprietary medical products which are used in the diagnosis, monitoring and ongoing treatment of skin disorders including skin cancers, burns and various wounds. Additionally, the company is researching the application of its proprietary ultrasound technology to the non-invasive diagnosis of breast disorders.
