SUPPORT FOR AIX/ESA IS GROWING SOME 40 VENDORS TO DEVELOP APPLICATIONS
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The list of software vendors developing applications for IBM's Advanced Interactive Executive/Enterprise Systems Architecture (AIX/ESA(A)) operating system continues to grow, with some 40 software vendors having stated their intention to develop products, IBM said today.
UNIX System Laboratories, Inc. (USL(B)) is the most recent vendor added to the list, today announcing the intention to bring its TUXEDO Enterprise Transaction Processing System to the AIX/ESA platform. TUXEDO provides a framework for harnessing distributed computing systems into common application environments. The product is expected to be generally available in the first quarter of 1993.
AIX/ESA, which began shipping in June, provides native UNIX(B) capability on the Enterprise System/9000(A) family of powerful ESA- capable processors.
"We're excited about the enthusiastic support we're receiving from vendors," said Per Jonas, manager, AIX/ESA software enablement. "Vendors are helping us achieve our ultimate goal of bringing complete solutions to the marketplace."
IBM encourages vendors to support their applications on AIX/ESA by providing them with access to systems and with technical support.
