SUPPORT EXPANDS FOR EMPLOYEE ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAM

WILMINGTON, Del., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Ecogrant, the popular environmental program for employees launched by ICI Americas in 1991, is this year being sponsored jointly by ICI Americas and ZENECA Inc.
On Earth Day 1993, ICI and ZENECA reaffirm their commitment to support employees and retirees who volunteer their time and energy to work on environmental projects in their local communities, said Keith Willard, chairman of ZENECA Inc. (US) and ZENECA Canada Inc., and Ben Lochtenberg, chairman, ICI Americas Inc.
Last year, Ecogrant was expanded from a pilot in Delaware to a nationwide program. Seventy-two applications were received, 15 entries selected, and more than $100,000 awarded to fund the winning projects. The grants have allowed community groups across the country to undertake projects in wildlife preservation, recycling, waste management and other initiatives which improve the local environment.
Both Willard and Lochtenberg paid tribute to employees who are both helping the company to operate safely and in harmony with the environment, and choosing to make a difference in their own neighborhoods.
The deadline for applications is July 15. The funds will be awarded to the organizations selected in the fall of this year.
ZENECA Inc., formed from businesses which were previously part of ICI Americas Inc., is a bioscience company with about 8,000 employees and 49 manufacturing and research and development sites in the United States.
ICI Americas employs approximately 11,000 people in the United States and has 36 manufacturing and research and development sites in the United States.
