OWEN COYLE can think of only one drawback for Neil Lennon if he decides to take up a job in England at some stage in the future.

He won't be able to take the Celtic fans with him.

Coyle was part of the crowd at Celtic Park as a youngster and marvelled at the way nothing had changed when he went back to work for television at the game against Spartak Moscow.

The victory over the Russians was the match which took Lennon's reputation to a new level and Coyle said: "I know people were sceptical concerning Celtic's chances of qualifying for the last 16 in the Champions League.

"But I didn't write them off when I saw who else was in Group G because I believe Celtic always have a chance due to the backing they get when they're at Parkhead on European nights.

CONFIDENCE "And that confidence in the fans to inspire the players will still be there no matter who Celtic play at home in the first leg of their last-16 match.

"When the combination of a really good team and an exceptional set of fans comes off the sceptics can say what they want.

"I've been there on the terracing and in the commentary box and I know that anything is possible for Celtic before this season is out in Europe.

"The fans reached a new level on the night Celtic beat Barcelona in Glasgow.

"And that's why I was glad that night, with all its drama and high emotion, didn't just go down in history for reaching new heights on the decibel meter. It was a win that had a material influence on the outcome of the group.

"Lenny won't get fans like the Celtic support anywhere else."
