 SUPERMAC TECHNOLOGY ENTERS WINDOWS-BASED PUBLISHING MARKET;
 INTRODUCES FIRST LINE OF COLOR PRINTERS
 SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- At the Seybold Computer Publishing Conference in San Francisco today, SuperMac Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: SMAC) introduced two new product lines marking the company's initial entry into both the Windows(TM)-based color desktop publishing market and the market for dye-sublimation color printers.
 SuperMatch for Windows Provides Superior Performance at Competitive
 Prices
 The company introduced four Windows products under the SuperMatch(TM) brand name: two accelerated true-color 24-bit graphics cards, including a complete solution that provides QuarkXPress(R) for Windows, and two true-color displays.
 "All the enabling factors have finally come together for professional-level color publishing in the Windows environment," said Michael A. McConnell, SuperMac's president and chief executive officer.
 "There are hundreds of thousands of PCs running Windows today, and the SuperMatch brand of graphics cards and monitors will allow these users to create professional color publishing work on the desktop."
 According to McConnell, CPUs are now fast enough to deliver good desktop publishing performance, and such key color publishing applications as QuarkXPress are now available under Windows. With the introduction of graphics accelerators such as SuperMac's, high- performance true-color Windows-based publishing solutions are truly practical for the first time. "Now that these enabling factors are in place, we believe that the Windows-based market is poised for tremendous growth," McConnell explained.
 SuperMac's current customer base has shown that the number one purchase criterion is performance. SuperMac products currently dominate the performance rankings for the Macintosh, and the company is committed to providing the same performance/value leadership in the Windows environment.
 "For example, the top-of-the-line Thunder/24 (TM) provides the fastest 24-bit Windows graphics acceleration available on the market today," McConnell said. "Thunder/24 runs rings around an unaccelerated VGA system. And it is much faster than its nearest competitor using the PhotoStone(TM) benchmark of true-color graphics performance."
 ProofPositive Color Printer Family Will Transform Professional
 Proofing
 As corporations, service bureaus and others continue to adopt color desktop publishing, the demand for color printers will rapidly expand. "Color printers are a logical extension to our family of superior graphics peripherals," said McConnell. "The ProofPositive(TM) family of dye-sublimation printers, priced below $7,000, make it practical for the first time to bring fast, contract--quality color proofing in house.
 "We've leveraged our color publishing expertise, reduced prices for dye-sublimation print engines, and new developments in color-matching technologies to give our customers professional proofing at desktop prices," McConnell continued. "These printers offer all the features color professionals demand, including the industry's only full-bleed output with proof-to-press color matching for both full-page and tabloid-size layouts."
