SUPARCO to mark World Space Week.

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) will mark World Space Week (WSW) 2016 Celebrations in 14 cities of the country in collaboration with key educational institutes.

The theme of WSW is 'Remote Sensing-Enabling Our Future', said a press release issued here.

The 14 cities include Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Gilgit, Quetta, Multan, Faisalabad, Abbottabad, Bahawalpur, Larkana, Dadu, Umerkot and Tando Allahyar.

WSW is a mega international event organized across the world to promote awareness about space technology, space sciences space applications and their contribution for the betterment of humankind.

The inauguration ceremony of the event will be held on October 17 at National Center for Remote Sensing and Geo Informatics (NCRG), SUPARCO Headquarters, Karachi.

The posters of National Poster making competition will also be displayed at the ceremony.

Moreover, a specially designed Mobile Education Bus equipped with multimedia will be sent to different schools to deliver lectures, multimedia presentations and videos that would be helpful in developing science knowledge and awareness among students.

On October 18, 19 and 20 quiz competition, declamation, contest and Qiraat competition will be held among students of different public and private schools of Karachi at SUPARCO HQs. Lectures on space technology have also been arranged or university students.

SUPARCO in collaboration with PIA Planetarium, Karachi will also organize sky simulation shows and lectures for school students from October 17 to 21.

WSW celebrations in Karachi will conclude with two-day family space fair at PAF Museum on October 22 and 23.
