SUNSHINE PIPELINE FILES FOR FORMAL APPROVAL

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The SunShine Pipeline Company today filed a formal application with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for the 502-mile intrastate portion of the SunShine project.
The company presented the 12-volume application along with a filing fee in the amount of $862,600. SunShine President E.J. Burgin said the company is committed to working closely with state and local agencies to ensure the successful certification and permitting of the project.
"Throughout the entire process, we have solicited the input of residents, as well as those of countless local officials and major conservation organizations," Burgin said, noting SunShine hosted 20 open houses in May and June along the proposed route.
Florida's Public Service Commission approved the intrastate portion of the project June 11. The project will involve two new pipelines: a 170-mile interstate line running from Pascagoula, Miss. to Okaloosa County in Florida's panhandle; and, a 502-mile intrastate running from Okaloosa County to Polk County, with possible future extension of 113 miles, including an 82.5 mile extension to Okeechobee County.
The project consists of two general partnerships: SunShine Pipeline Partners and SunShine Interstate Pipeline Partners. Each of the partnerships is comprised of different subsidiaries of The Coastal Corporation of Houston, Florida Power Corporation of St. Petersburg and TransCanada PipeLines Limited of Calgary.
