SUNSHINE MINING COMPANY ANNOUNCES CHAIRMAN AND CEO WILL RELINQUISH HIS
POSITIONS AS AN OFFICER AND DIRECTOR IN THE NEAR FUTURE
DALLAS, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Sunshine Mining Company (NYSE: SSC) announced today that its chairman and chief executive officer, G. Michael Boswell, had determined to relinquish his positions as an officer and director within the near future. Boswell who has held the position of chief executive officer since 1977 stated, "Now that the corporate restructuring is substantially complete, future corporate activities are to be confined to the company's mining operations in Idaho and other western states. This is the logical and appropriate corporation strategy for Sunshine during this difficult period of sustained low silver prices."
Sunshine also announced that its Dallas office would be closed shortly and corporate headquarters relocated to Boise, Idaho in order for management to be in closer contact with its primary mining assets, the Sunshine Mine, mill, silver refinery and antimony processing facility.
Sunshine also announced that John S. Simko, the company's senior vice president and general counsel has been elected to the board and to the position of president and chief operating officer and subsequently would assume the position of chief executive officer. Simko has served Sunshine in various officer capacities since 1984.
George R. Truitt, who has served as senior vice president and chief financial officer since 1990 will resign concurrent with Boswell's departure and William W. Davis will then assume the position of chief financial officer.
Robert H. Peterson was also appointed senior vice president of Sunshine Mining Company.
