SUNOCO TO ACQUIRE 23 GASOLINE STATIONS IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS AND CONNECTICUT

PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Sun Company, Inc. (NYSE: SUN) said today it has signed an agreement to acquire 23 gasoline retail locations from F.L. Roberts & Co., Inc., of Springfield, Mass.
Twenty of the locations are in the Springfield area and three are in Connecticut. Fourteen have convenience food markets, and nine, including five of those with C-stores, have car washes.
Robert H. Campbell, chief executive officer of the Philadelphia- based Sun Company, said the acquisition is in line with the company's recently announced strategy of growth in branded gasoline retail marketing in the Northeast.
"There are only a few Sunoco locations in the Springfield area now," he noted, "so this was an area we had targeted for expansion. These are prime retail gasoline sites that will add substantially to our market presence and sales volume."
Terms of the sale were not disclosed. Closing is expected within 90 days.
