 SUNCOAST PIPELINE NAMES E.J. BURGIN PRESIDENT
 HOUSTON, Jan., /PRNewswire/ -- E. J. Burgin has been named president


and chief operating officer of SunCoast Pipeline Company, a joint venture of United Gas Pipe Line Company and ANR Southern Pipeline Company, a subsidiary of the Coastal Corporation.
 Burgin joined Florida Gas Transmission Company in 1959, where he served as manager of operations, vice president of operations, vice president of marketing and executive vice president. He was named executive vice president of HNG Interstate Pipeline Companies in 1985 and president of Enron Gas Pipeline Operating Company in 1987.
 Burgin earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Tennessee and is a graduate of the Stanford University executive program. He is past president of the Florida Natural Gas Association and serves on advisory committees for the American Gas Association and the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA). He is a founding member and past chairman of the INGAA Foundation, a trustee for the Institute of Gas Technology and a member of the board of directors for the Southern Gas Association.
 SunCoast Pipeline, a 560-mile pipeline to expand gas transmission, sales and storage services to Florida markets, will extend from United's existing pipeline system near Pensacola to serve northern and central Florida. SunCoast will have an initial capacity of over 400 million cubic feet of natural gas per day, expandable with compression to over one billion cubic feet per day. Construction is expected to begin on the new pipeline in July 1993, with completion scheduled for November 1994.
 Florida Power Corporation, a major electric utility headquartered in St. Petersburg and serving the central and northwestern portions of the state, has signed letters of intent to purchase an aggregate of 300 million cubic feet a day of firm transportation service on SunCoast.
 ANR Southern Pipeline Company is a subsidiary of the Coastal Corporation (NYSE: CGP), a Houston-based energy holding company with consolidated assets of $9 billion and subsidiary operations in natural gas transmission and storage, refining and marketing, oil and gas exploration and production, coal, chemicals, trucking and independent power production.
 United Gas Pipe Line Company owns and operates a 9,600-mile interstate natural gas transmission system strategically located in the Gulf Coast region of the United States. United currently serves 467 communities and is connected to 126 industrial facilities as well as 13 major power plants. United's pipeline system has 120 interconnects with other major pipelines that directly serve the Southeast, East Coast and Midwest.
