SUNBEAM-OSTER NAMES JAMES WILSON HEAD OF HUMAN RESOURCES

 PROVIDENCE, R.I., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- James Wilson, 51, was named executive vice president - human resources worldwide for Sunbeam-Oster Company, Inc. (NYSE: SOC), today by Roger Schipke, chairman and chief executive officer.
 "Jim's proven leadership and 20 years experience in all aspects of strategic human resources for domestic and international operations made him the ideal choice for Sunbeam-Oster as we prepare for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century," said Mr. Schipke.
 "With a sound strategic course set by management, I believe that the best people provide the greatest competitive edge in the industry," said Mr. Wilson. "And I'm excited to have the opportunity to help Sunbeam-Oster prepare for its future successes."
 Mr. Wilson was most recently vice president of human resources for Crystal Brands, the Southport, Conn., based apparel and costume jewelry company. He was responsible for all aspects of human resources and served on its executive management committee.
 Prior to joining Crystal Brands in 1985, Mr. Wilson served as vice president of human resources for Unidynamics/Crane Company. From 1982 through 1984 he was director of employee relations for the 18,000- employee international bottling division of PepsiCo.
 Mr. Wilson began his career in human resources at the Continental Group, where he served in a variety of positions between 1970 and 1982, ultimately as general manager of management resources and training.
 A navigator/bombardier in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 through 1970, Mr. Wilson received a B.A. in economics from Manhattan College in 1964. He also received a J.D. at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1974.
