 SUNBANK NAMES NEW TOP EXECUTIVES
 ORLANDO, Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- SunBanks, Inc. announced today


the following executive promotions. Effective Jan. 21, Rodney M. Sparkman will become chairman of the board in a full-time capacity, and Robert J. Tanner the new president and chief executive officer of The Hillsboro SunBank in Plant City.
 Born and raised in Plant City, Rodney "Rod" Sparkman has been with The Hillsboro SunBank for more then 30 years having started as a bookkeeper. In 1984, he was elected executive vice president and to its board of directors the following year. In 1988, Rod was appointed to his current position as president and CEO.
 Throughout his years at SunBank, he has been a leader of the community, serving as a board member of the United Fund and the Hillsborough County Mental Health Association, as well as area director for the March of Dimes. Rod is currently an active board member of the South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City. He graduated from Florida Southern College and banking schools at the University of Wisconsin, University of Florida and Harvard University. Rod and his wife, Betty, have four children and three grandchildren.
 Robert "Bob" Tanner joined SunBank of Gainesville in 1979 as executive vice president of loan administration, later to become president and CEO. Carrying the same title, he moved over to head up SunBank/North Florida, N.A. In 1990, Bob relocated to Tampa in his current position as regional president for SunBank of Tampa Bay.
 Bob attended the Stonier School of Banking at Rutgers University. His commitment to community service shows throughout his banking career. Bob has been a member of the Boys and Girls Club of Tampa, the Community Redevelopment Agency in Tampa and the Chamber of Commerce Board of Governors in Jacksonville. Bob and his wife, Shaunah, have two grown children and intend to make Plant City their home in the very near future. Responsibility for the Tampa Bay region vacated by Bob will be assumed by Augustus "Gus" Trahan who is currently a regional executive at SunBank of Tampa Bay. George W. Koehn continues as chairman and CEO of SunBank of Tampa Bay.
 After the announcement, Wendell H. Colson, president of SunBanks, Inc. stated "The Hillsboro SunBank has consistently been one of our best performing banks in one of our better markets. Our bank will continue to expand its commitment to serve the needs of the East Hillsborough area with local people."
 The Hillsboro SunBank is the third oldest state chartered bank in Florida with total assets of $190 million and total deposits of $168 million. It has three offices and 94 employees.
