SUNBANK CONSOLIDATES BANKING OPERATIONS IN TWO COUNTIES

 ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- SunBanks, Inc. announced today it would combine its banks in Lee and Collier counties. SunBank of Lee County, N.A. and SunBank/Naples, N.A. will become SunBank/Southwest Florida. This is the fifth consolidation in the past two years and is a continuation of SunBank's strategy to optimize the size of each of its affiliate banks according to the needs of the local market.
 Wendell H. Colson, president of SunBanks, Inc., stated, "We want to rightsize our banks to match the needs of each of the markets we serve. The coming together of SunBank of Lee County and SunBank/Naples will raise the already high service levels of these two fine organizations."
 Charles K. Idelson, president of SunBank of Lee County will become the chairman and chief executive officer of SunBank/Southwest Florida. Kevin C. Hale, president of SunBank/Naples will become president and chief operating officer of SunBank/Southwest Florida.
 When consolidated, the two-county bank is expected to have nearly $900 million in assets, 22 offices and approximately 380 employees.
 Idelson has 25 years of banking experience and has been the SunBank president in Lee County for the past 11 years. He is also extremely active in the community, and is currently chairman of the board of the Foundation for Public Schools, the immediate past campaign chairperson for United Way of Lee County, chairman of the Naples/Fort Myers Town Hall, and a director and past chairman of the board of the Chamber of Southwest Florida.
 Hale began his banking career with the First National Bank of Naples in 1978. After its acquisition by Citizens and Southern Bank, Hale was elevated to president and chief executive officer of C&S in Melbourne, Fla. He joined SunBank/Naples in 1987 as president and chief executive officer. Hale currently serves as the chairman of the Community Foundation of Collier County and is a past director of the Economic Development Council of Collier County and the Collier County YMCA.
