 SUN IS PARTNER IN NORTH SEA WELL TESTING 7,200 BARRELS A DAY
 PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Sun Company (NYSE: SUN) announced today that its subsidiary Sun Oil Britain Limited is a participant in a successful appraisal well in the Pine Field in UK North Sea Block 16/12a.
 The well, 16/12a-17, tested 37 degree API oil at a rate of 7,200 barrels per day with 5.8 million cubic feet of gas through a 52/64-inch choke at a well head pressure of 1,542 psi. The test was conducted over the interval 13,126 feet to 13,232 feet in the Upper Jurrassic Brae Formation.
 Sun Oil Britain Limited holds a 28.26 percent interest in the 16/12a Block and the Pine Field, with operator LASMO North Sea PLC holding 58.85 percent, Hardy Oil & Gas (UK) Limited 8.50 percent interest and British Gas Exploration and Production Ltd. 4.39 percent.
 V. Ray Harlow, president of Sun International Exploration and Production Company, said, "We are extremely pleased and encouraged by the results of this well, the second successful appraisal in the multiple fields of Block 16/12a. Information from these successful appraisals will certainly progress the partnership towards a decision regarding development."
 He said the well has been suspended to allow re-entry at a later date and the drilling rig has been moved to drill another appraisal in the South Birch Field, which lies north of the Pine Field in Block 16/12a. A successful appraisal was drilled in South Birch in June.
