SUDBURY CONTACT LAUNCHES MAJOR DIAMOND SEARCH INCLUDING BEAVERHOUSE LAKE GOLD PROJECT AREA

TORONTO, Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Sudbury Contact Mines Ltd. will launch a major exploration drive this month, fanning out from its diamond find in Northeast Ontario's Kirkland Lake area. The drive, which will also search for gold, will include the adjoining lands of the Beaverhouse Lake Joint Venture Project.
Sudbury Contact, part of the Agnico-Eagle group, has signed a letter of intent with the Beaverhouse Lake Joint Venture, which includes Royal Oak Mines Inc. of Vancouver and Toronto-based Queenston Mining Inc. and Lac Minerals Ltd.
The deal gives Sudbury Contact the right to explore and acquire the diamond interests, ranging from 51 percent to 100 percent, on specific claim groupings within Beaverhouse's 3,840 acres in McVittie and Gauthier Townships. The Beaverhouse lands adjoin Sudbury Contact's Diamond Lake Project Group, on which gem-quality micro-diamonds were found in one of two kimberlite pipes.
Sudbury Contact already owns or has under option 24,000 acres in the townships of McVittie, Gauthier, Hearst and McElroy to the west of Larder Lake. "We will likely spend more than $700,000 on diamond and gold exploration this year," says Paul Penna, President of Sudbury Contact.
"We are encouraged by numerous untested airborne magnetic anomalies and favorable diamond indicator minerals found by our surveys," Mr. Penna says. "Reverse-circulation drilling of 70 holes through overburden will begin in mid-February and end in late March. The holes will be shallow, going no deeper than 300 feet to sample the bedrock," Mr. Penna adds.
