-- Franchisees Can Set Up Own Website Via

Doctor's Associates, Inc., franchisor for SUBWAY(R) Restaurants,

provides SUBWAY(R) franchisees with a free website for their

location(s). Franchisees can create their website(s) through a web

based application using the company's extranet. The created website

includes the restaurant address, business hours, phone and fax numbers,

e-mail address, and promotional and menu information with color

graphics. Each website is also issued a URL or web address to use on

local advertising and promotional materials. Web surfers can link to

the individual restaurant sites through the Store Locator at After typing in city, state, and/or zip code, a list

of nearby sandwich shops appears, including links to corresponding


-- 'Dexter's Laboratory' and SUBWAY(R) Join for Kids Promotion

Fans of Cartoon Network's Dexter's Laboratory will soon be able to

collect four fun toys based on the top-rated show at SUBWAY(R)

Restaurants. Dexter's Laboratory depicts the comedic adventure

resulting from boy genius Dexter's zany science experiments. The four

toys will be featured in the SUBWAY(R) Kids' Pak(R) meal

August 23 - October 3 in the U.S. and Canada. Kids can also enter

"Dexter's Super Computer Giveaway" at SUBWAY(R) Restaurants for a

chance to win an advanced "super" computer including DVD equipment and

Dexter's episodes on DVD.

-- SUBWAY(R) and Pepsi Offer Chance to Win Trip to 1999 World Series

Beginning July 19, SUBWAY(R) and Pepsi are joining together to offer

the Major League Baseball Sweepstakes. The grand prize will be a trip

for two to the 1999 World Series. Other licensed Major League Baseball

prizes will also be given away. Entry forms and details will be

available through August 22 at SUBWAY(R) Restaurants serving Pepsi.

-- First SUBWAY(R) Location in Germany Opens

The first SUBWAY(R) Restaurant in Germany opened on June 13, 1999 in

downtown Berlin. The location has been so successful, owner Oliver

Friedrich has already decided to expand its hours. Friedrich ate his

first SUBWAY(R) sandwich while visiting relatives in Vancouver, Canada,

then again while on holiday in New York City, which piqued his interest

in purchasing a SUBWAY(R) franchise. He plans to open two to three

more sandwich shops in Berlin in the coming years.

-- SUBWAY(R) Sandwiches Made by Certified 'Sandwich Artists(R)'

Since SUBWAY(R) sandwiches are considered a work of art, the restaurant

employees who make them undergo special training to be certified

"Sandwich Artists(R)." The certification program serves as an

incentive and reminder to prepare the product according to

specifications and build "beautiful" sandwiches and salads. The

employees must successfully meet certain requirements to become

certified. Many franchisees recertify the Sandwich Artists(R) every

six months to ensure that beautiful sandwiches are always being served.

SUBWAY(R) Restaurants Human Resources Specialist, Mary Jacobs, is

retaining issues.
