SUBJECT: ALLEGED TOYOTA-NISSAN COOPERATION ON ELECTRIC VEHICLES

TORRANCE, Calif., Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The following was issued today by Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. Inc.:
The article late last week in the Mainichi Shimbun about alleged cooperation between Toyota and Nissan on electric vehicle development was incorrect. Toyota is cooperating with all members of the Japan Automobile Manufacturer's Association (JAMA) on standardizing electric vehicle parts and components, not just with Nissan. This is an automotive industry program in Japan, not simply a Toyota-Nissan program.
