Preston 3 Ipswich 2 SUPERSUB Joe Garner blasted a sensational hat-trick to spark Preston's remarkable recovery.

The striker came off the bench on 62 minutes with Simon Grayson's men heading for an exit, but two goals in a minute set up a comeback before his clinching third.

He got lucky when a header from Paul Gallagher's corner crept in through a mass of bodies to equalise on 68 minutes. But there was real skill about his second strike - which came straight after the restart - as Garner chested down and fired past startled keeper Scott Loach.

He completed his match-winning treble two minutes from time when Tyrone Mings dithered, allowing Garner to pinch the ball and slot in.

Championship Ipswich took the lead on 58 minutes when keeper Declan Rudd, on loan from rivals Norwich, gifted them the lead. He tried to stop Tom Clarke's chest back going for a corner, which allowed Frank Nouble to pounce.

And Ipswich dragged themselves level against League One North End on 76 minutes, after Garner's second strike, when David McGoldrick headed in a Carlos Edwards cross.
