AS WE bid a fond farewell to the final Bank Holiday Monday of 2013, I for one am hoping for an Indian summer - a September full to the brim of warm days.

I''m not quite ready for the end of this beautiful weather we've been blessed with.

Retailers however will be praying for the curtain to fall on the warm temperatures, as their autumn collections will only start to shift when our shopping psyche flips to winter mode.

While I am happy for the pleasant weather to remain, I am more than ready to inject some newness into my wardrobe.

My first step into fall shopping is to buy new ankle boots.

Flat versions that sit just above the ankle bone are more flattering on shorter legs (I speak from personal experience).

Look for details such as straps and buckles, or opt for a neutral alternative to black such as burgundy.

I also love the red options I've seen on the high street.

For evening choose a high chunky heel, great for now, bare-legged with a dress and then with skinny jeans or black tights for later on when temperatures drop.

Accessories are a great way to wear "winterweight" trends now. Try adopting the glam-grunge trend early with a metallic leather shoe and look out for textured bags in a pony skin or with bijoux details.

Buy now, wear now, sunny or not.
