 STRONG DEBUT FOR CME'S S&P MIDCAP
 CHICAGO, Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Estimated first-day volume totaled


4,035 for the Chicago Mercantile Exchange's (CME) newly-launched Standard & Poor's (S&P) MidCap 400 stock-index futures contract. By contrast, 3,963 contracts were traded when S&P 500 futures debuted at the CME on April 21, 1982. In January 1992, average daily volume in the S&P 500, the leading U.S. stock-index futures contract, was 51,653, up from 48,776 for all of 1991.
 With Patrick G. Ryan, chairman of Aon Corporation, ringing the opening bell, trading in MidCap futures and options commenced at the CME at 9:00 a.m. (CST). Aon is among the 400 corporations constituting the index.
