ST. PAUL, Minn., Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The Stroh Brewery Company is marking its 10-year anniversary as a Minnesota brewer with a celebration for all Minnesotans to enjoy. Stroh has invited its consumers and friends to enter its statewide anniversary sweepstakes and attend a multi-band concert "bash" to commemorate its 10th anniversary in St. Paul.
Since Stroh opened its St. Paul facility in October 1983, it has been Minnesota's largest brewer. In 10 years, it has contributed more than $1 billion to Minnesota's economy through payroll, property taxes, production and packaging materials purchased from Minnesota suppliers, and donations to local charitable organizations.
In those 10 years, the state's beer drinkers have extended tremendous support to Stroh's products, making Minnesota one of Stroh's largest volume states, explained Lacey Logan, director of corporate communications. Through sponsorship of the sweepstakes and the concert, Logan said, Stroh's hopes to reciprocate the sense of community that has embraced the company.
The "Stroh Anniversary Sweepstakes" will award four lucky Minnesotans with a 10-year supply of their favorite Stroh-brewed products. Through Nov. 1, 1993, all Minnesota residents, 21 and older, may enter the random-drawing contest at taverns, dining establishments or retail stores where Stroh products are sold.
Four winners will be selected, one each week during the contest, and will have an option to choose either the 10-year supply of beer, equal to 130 cases, or $1,000 in cash. Odds of winning depend on the number of valid entries received.
"This sweepstakes program is our way of saying thank you to our friends and customers who have made us feel right at home over the last 10 years," said Logan.
In the Twin Cities, Stroh also will be marking its 10th anniversary with the presentation of the "Stroh's Birthday Bash Benefit for the Minnesota Red Cross," on Saturday, Oct. 23. The concert will feature four local bands, including the Hoopsnakes, Ipso Facto, Molly and the Heymakers and Mississippi Live Country All Stars. The bands will begin playing at 7 p.m. at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium in the St. Paul Civic Center.
"In celebrating our 10-year anniversary, we wanted to recognize the people of St. Paul, who for the last decade, have supported us through their patronage and community acceptance," Logan said. "The concert is another gesture of our thanks."
All proceeds from the concert will be donated to the American Red Cross, St. Paul Area Chapter. While benefiting the Red Cross directly, Logan said the concert is also an expression of appreciation for the support local residents extended to their neighbors who were victimized by this summer's flood.
"We are asking everyone touched by the disastrous flood to join us for this evening of celebration to thank the local volunteers who so generously donated water, time or money to help the flood victims, and to honor the American Red Cross for their relentless efforts," she said.
"The Cities' 97 thinks this is a great cause," said Mike Noble, promotion director at KTCZ-FM, a concert co-sponsor. "We know there are a lot of families still in need as a result of the floods and we want to help them get through this difficult time."
Stroh's "Birthday Bash Benefit for the Minnesota Red Cross" is being produced by G.A.M.E., Inc., and is also sponsored by The Cities' 97, BOB 100, City Pages, the St. Paul Civic Center and Ticketmaster.
"As a co-sponsor of the benefit concert, BOB100 is proud to be celebrating with Stroh in its anniversary celebration," said Bob Wood, program director at WBOB-FM. "The admission price is low, the entertainment value is high, and it's all being rolled together for a very worthy cause."
Tickets to the concert are only $3.50 in advance, plus convenience charge, and may be purchased at all Ticketmaster locations, including Dayton's and Great American Music Stores, or charged by phone (612-989-5151).
The Stroh Brewery Company is Minnesota's largest brewer with 350 employees, and has operated on St. Paul's East Side for the last 10 years.
