STROH DONATES $20,000 TO VIETNAM MONUMENT COMMISSION

DETROIT, May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The Stroh Brewery Company announced today it has donated $20,000 to the Vietnam Monument Commission of Michigan and will undertake a combined marketing and sales effort to raise additional funds for the construction of the monument. The announcement was made during a news conference unveiling the design of the monument held today at the Veterans Memorial Building in Detroit.
Peter W. Stroh, chairman and chief executive officer of The Stroh Brewery Company, serves as an advisory board member on the commission.
Presenting the check was George Kuehn, senior vice president of Stroh, who said, "It is a great honor for our company's chairman, Peter Stroh, to serve on this board and take part in the vision of this extremely important monument.
"To The Stroh Brewery Company, construction of this monument means helping in an effort that is long overdue -- an effort to permanently honor the more than 2,600 Michigan citizens who gave their lives or who are still missing in action in Vietnam."
Kuehn continued to say that Stroh has been a corporate citizen of the state of Michigan for more than 150 years and therefore, it is only fitting that the company show its appreciation to the many veterans in Michigan who have purchased Stroh products and supported the company over the years.
Stroh is currently reviewing sales and marketing programs to be implemented during the coming year to help raise additional funds for the Vietnam Monument Commission of Michigan.
The Stroh Brewery Company, headquartered in Detroit, is the nation's fourth-largest brewing company.
