STRAIGHT TO THE POINT.

A lot has been said about the opening of Cardiff's University Hospital of Wales. It was not opened in 1973, and neither was it opened in 1972. I was employed at the UHW in 1971 and it was in that year that it was opened by Her Majesty the Queen. The plaque which states 'This hospital was officially opened by Her Majesty the Queen in 1971', was originally placed in the old concourse at the back of the hospital.

The plaque has since been moved on to the first floor of the new concourse.

ALTHOUGH I didn't like the idea of the old Bindles site at Cold Knap being turned into a development site, I nevertheless feel sorry for those occupying the apartments closest to what looks like a tower block on the old water's edge site.

Once the midday sun has moved on those apartments there will be no outlook at all from half of their homes, and it is possible that the new development will be overlooking their rooms.

They will be in permanent shade.

It is often said that you can't buy a view, yet that is the very ploy that is used when selling a property.

TO the person who returned my appointment card which I lost after a visit to the University of Wales Hospital, I would like to say a sincere thank you very much.

HUMAN activity is seriously damaging the fabric of the planet which is directly linked to the local national and world economy.

The Prime Minister Tony Blair should, and must, recognise it is necessary for him to radically lead people, not to be swayed by the people who cannot commit themselves to even thinking ecologically, let alone worry why they must alter their activities and use less carbon in their lives.
