 STOUT CHOSEN GANNETT MANAGER OF THE YEAR
 ARLINGTON, Va., Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Gary Stout, president of


Gannett Offset and president of The Times Journal at Springfield, Va., has been chosen Gannett Manager of the Year, it was announced today at the year-end meeting for managers of Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI).
 Ben Laurence, director/Atlantic division sales, USA Today, was named Gannett Sales Executive of the Year.
 The Corporate Staffer of the Year award went to Dan Ehrman, vice president/finance and business affairs for the broadcast division.
 The Stockton (California) Record won the annual Super EEO award, established in 1988 to recognize the operating unit that personifies Gannett's commitment to equal employment opportunity.
 As manager of the year, Stout receives a silver tray and $5,000. Finalists for the award receive a sliver memento and $2,500. They are: Sue Clark-Jackson, president/West Regional Newspaper Group and president and publisher of the Reno Gazette-Journal; Marc Kaye, president and general manager of WDAE-AM/WUSA-FM in Tampa; and Larry Lindquist, senior vice president/circulation at USA Today. Clark-Jackson was the winner of the 1990 Manager of the Year Award.
 In the running with Laurence for Sales Executive of the Year were Renie Freedman, account executive, WUSA-TV, Washington, D.C.; Patricia Peabody, Detroit sales manager, USA Weekend; and Gary Purcell, manager/senior accounts, Gannett Outdoor of Southern California. Laurence receives a $4,000 prize; the finalists, $2,000 each. All receive gold framed awards.
 Ehrman receives a silver bowl and $2,500. The finalists for Corporate Staffer of the Year were Gracia Martone, assistant treasurer, and Peter Olsen, lead support analyst. Each finalist receives a silver bowl and $1,000.
 As winner of the Super EEO Award, The Stockton Record receives a silver bowl and $2,500 to be used for affirmative action internships. In the running with The Stockton Record were The Idaho Statesman at Boise; Chillicothe (Ohio) Gazette; Iowa City (Iowa) Press Citizen; The Clarion-Ledger (Jackson, Miss.); News-Star (Monroe, La.); Muskogee (Okla.) Daily Phoenix and Times-Democrat; KOCO-TV at Oklahoma City; Poughkeepsie (N.Y.) Journal; Reno (Nev.) Gazette-Journal; Palladium-Item (Richmond, Ind.); Rockford (Ill.) Register Star; The San Bernardino (Calif.) County Sun; The Saratogian (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.); and The News-Leader (Springfield, Mo.).
