 STOUFFER CONCOURSE HOTEL CELEBRATES OPENING DAY;
 MAYOR JACKSON IS HONORED FIRST GUEST
 ATLANTA, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Mayor Maynard Jackson "checked in" this morning as the Stouffer Concourse Hotel's honored first guest, officially commencing operations at the new luxury hotel at Hartsfield Centre on the site of the former airport terminal.
 "The Stouffer Concourse Hotel is one of the finest hotels in Atlanta and the premier property at the airport," said William N. Hulett, president of Stouffer Hotel Company. "It fully reflects our commitment to service excellence and raises the level of luxury available at one of the world's great airports to new heights."
 The only hotel on airport property, the 400-room Stouffer Concourse Hotel is located five minutes from the airport terminal and 10 minutes from downtown.
 The hotel features indoor and outdoor swimming pools, health club and gift shop. The property has 28 meeting rooms with 34,000 square feet of function space including an 11,000-square-foot grand ballroom, largest in the airport area, able to accommodate up to 1,300 people, and five permanent boardrooms. The hotel contains 17 luxury suites including a Presidential Suite. Guest rooms and suites overlooking the airport's north runway offer balconies.
 The property also offers the Concorde Bar & Grill which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily; overlooking the airport, the lounge presents a light luncheon menu and entertainment both at lunch and in the evening.
 The top level of the 11-story building is designated as a Club Floor, a Stouffer feature offering concierge service, private lounge, special in-room amenities and complimentary continental breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres.
 "As part of Hartsfield Centre, a focal point of Mayor Jackson's Southtowne vision, the Stouffer Concourse Hotel is proud to be an integral part of the community," said General Manager John Reiss. "Convenient to downtown and the major expressway system, the hotel offers travelers one of Atlanta's most accessible locations. Our 400 staff members are here to provide the highest level of hospitality."
 Also announced at today's ceremony were plans for a grand opening gala in early 1993 to benefit Very Special Arts Georgia, the local unit of a nationwide organization founded 18 years ago which provides programs in the creative and performing arts for individuals with physical and mental disabilities.
 The funds raised at the black-tie affair will benefit "Danceability," a special joint project of Very Special Arts Georgia, Shepherd Spinal Center, the Atlanta Ballet and Special Audiences. Danceability is a project which provides an opportunity for beneficial creative expression through movement by people with disabilities.
 "It is a Stouffer tradition that our grand openings benefit a worthy cause or institution," Reiss noted. "We are proud to have Very Special Arts as our grand opening partner in concert with one of Atlanta's most respected medical facilities and one of the city's most cherished cultural entities."
 The hotel is the third Stouffer property in the Atlanta area, joining the Stouffer Waverly Hotel in northwest Atlanta and Stouffer PineIsle Resort at Lake Lanier Islands.
 Stouffer has given the "Concourse" designation to its airport hotels which also are located in Denver, St. Louis and Washington. The Stouffer Concourse Hotel at Stapleton International Airport in Denver was named the top airport hotel in a ranking of the 10 best airport properties in the U.S. by readers of the prestigious Andrew Harper's Hideaway Report. The Stouffer Concourse Hotel at Washington National Airport received Meeting News magazine's "Planner's Choice Award" for 1991, one of only three airport hotels in the U.S. to gain such recognition.
 Stouffer owns and/or operates 41 hotels and resorts located throughout the continental United States, Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean.
