STONE & WEBSTER FORMS NEW ENVIRONMENTAL DIVISION

 BOSTON, Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation today announced that it has established a new division, Stone & Webster Environmental Technology & Services, to address the expanding worldwide environmental services market.
 In announcing the action, Ben Charlson, president and chief executive officer of the Engineering Corporation, said the new division will utilize Stone & Webster's extensive geotechnical, chemical engineering and construction resources in providing innovative, technology-based solutions to complex environmental problems. The division also will direct the development, acquisition and licensing of pollution prevention, remediation and other technologies for clients in the process, industrial, power and government sectors.
 James A. Cleveland has been named president of the new division.
 "The division will enable us to focus our full range of scientific, engineering and construction disciplines to more effectively serve the global environmental market," Cleveland said. "We are targeting assignments in clean-air compliance, water resource management, pollution prevention and waste minimization, environmental restoration, hazardous waste management and remediation, and solid waste management."
 Stone & Webster Environmental Technology & Services will be the focal point for expanding environmental marketing and business development through the company's existing domestic and international offices.
