STEVE MINIUM PROMOTED TO EXECUTIVE NEWS DIRECTOR, WKRC-TV, CINCINNATI
 CINCINNATI, Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Great American Broadcasting Company today announced that Steve Minium has been named executive news director of WKRC-TV, Cincinnati. Minium was promoted to the new position from WBRC-TV, Birmingham, Ala., where he has been news director since 1989. As executive news director for WKRC-TV, he will be responsible for all daily news operations, news promotions and pilot projects for Great American's group of five television stations.
 In making the announcement, John P. Zanotti, president of the Television Group of Great American Broadcasting, said, "Steve is an excellent manager and has done an outstanding job at WBRC -- stressing excellent writing, reporting and news gathering techniques. He also has the rare ability to know how to adapt today's television news for the future, to fit our audience's changing lifestyles and demands."
 For two out of the last three years, WBRC-TV, Channel 6 in Birmingham, has won the coveted Pacemaker Award by the Alabama Associated Press for the best overall news operation in the state. WBRC won national honors in 1991 from the Associated Press, placing second against all stations in all-sized markets for its spot news coverage of a 1990 tornado. The station took 12 out of 18 statewide awards made by the Associated Press in Alabama in 1990 and was nominated for three regional Emmy awards by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in 1990.
 Minium, 41, began his career as assignment editor and news writer for KNBC-TV, Los Angeles. He has been a news producer at KTTV, Los Angeles; news assignment manager, KPNX-TV, Phoenix, Ariz.; and news director, KTNV-TV Las Vegas, Nev. before joining WBRC-TV and Great American Broadcasting. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in radio and television broadcasting from California State University, Los Angeles. Minium and his wife Renee have a son, David.
