STES ANNOUNCES ACQUISITION OF AM-TEX CORPORATION: STES NOW THE COUNTRY'S FIFTH LARGEST CONTRACT OPERATIONS FIRM

WAKEFIELD, Mass., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Wakefield-based ST Environmental Services (STES) recently acquired AM-TEX Corporation (AM-TEX) of Houston.
Both firms provide water and wastewater contract operations services.
STES President John Bonomo announced the acquisition: "This acquisition is part of STES' goal to expand the firm's market throughout the U.S. With the additional AM-TEX operations, STES has gained a strong position in the Southwest, enabling STES to offer a wide-range of operational and management choices, both to municipal and private utilities in water and wastewater."
AM-TEX operates 35 wastewater plants and 84 water systems, in both private and industrial sectors. The firm has been in operation since 1974.
This acquisition is a continuing step forward for STES in its commitment to be a national leader in the water and wastewater business and to establish itself as a successful corporation founded on a strong water utility base. Through these actions, STES provides a focus group of services to the water and wastewater industries in the United States, demonstrating a commitment to quality, excellence, and customer service.
AM-TEX Chairman William Callegari joins STES as president of the Southern Region. His role will involve the overall responsibility for the region. "We look forward to being part of ST Environmental Services. It is a two-way benefit," said Callegari. "We are combining and strengthening our programs to provide state-of-the-art contract operations to a broader base of clients."
The acquisition has strong business logic and will benefit customers, according to the company. Together with Severn Trent Systems and Stoner Associates, STES envisions combining state-of-the-art equipment and advanced technology. This approach will achieve operational efficiencies and improved quality of service to its customers.
STES is the U.S.-based arm of Severn Trent Plc. STES provides contract operations and privatization experience to municipalities and private utilities. Severn Trent Plc is one of the major water and wastewater management companies in the world, with an approximate annual revenue of $1.5 billion.
