STERLING WINTHROP NAMES SHOFF V.P., OPERATIONS, PHARMACEUTICALS GROUP; PETERS SUCCEEDS SHOFF AS PRESIDENT, SANOFFI WINTHROP USA

 NEW YORK, July 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Sterling Winthrop Inc. has announced that Harry A. Shoff has been promoted to vice president, operations, for the Sterling Winthrop Pharmaceuticals Group. Daniel L. Peters succeeds Shoff as president of Sanofi Winthrop Pharmaceuticals USA, Sterling Winthrop's U.S. pharmaceutical organization.
 In his new position, Shoff will be responsible for the worldwide sales, marketing and manufacturing operations for the Pharmaceuticals Group. Reporting to Shoff, in addition to Peters, is Jacques Boisvert, president, Sanofi Winthrop LACAP (Latina, Canada, Australasia, Pac Rim).

Rejeange, Sterling Winthrop executive vice president and president, Sterling Winthrop Pharmaceuticals Group. "I'm also confident that Dan Peters will continue to build on Shoff's success and further extend Sanofi Winthrop USA's position in the diagnostic imaging market, and its role as a leading supplier of analgesics, cardiovascular agents, anti-infectives, hormonal products and the Carpuject line of injectable medicines."
 Shoff, who has more than 30 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry, joined Sterling Winthrop in 1985 as executive vice president of the U.S. pharmaceuticals division. In 1986, he was named president, and since then, has had an outstanding track record in leading the division to a leading position in diagnostic imaging and the U.S. industry in general.
 Peters joined Sterling Winthrop in 1977 and has held a number of increasingly responsible positions in the organization, including senior product manager, group product manager, director of sales for the former Diagnostic Imaging Division (DID), vice president of DID, and vice president, Hospital Products Division. In 1992 Peters was appointed executive vice president, Sanofi Winthrop USA, for which he had responsibility for managing the company's business development activities, sales divisions and related medical organizations.
