STERLING WINTHROP INC. ANNOUNCES NEW PRESIDENT AND TWO SENIOR MANAGERS FOR STERLING HEALTH EUROPE

 NEW YORK, May 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Sterling Winthrop Inc. today announced the appointment of Colston Herbert to the position of president, Sterling Health Europe. Additionally, Elizabeth R. Culligan and Graham Read have been named executive vice president of marketing, Sterling Health Europe, and managing director, Sterling Health UK and Ireland, respectively. Sterling Health is the consumer health products division of Sterling Winthrop Inc.
 Herbert most recently served as managing director, Sterling Health UK and Ireland. He began his career with Sterling Winthrop in 1967 as a medical representative and was subsequently appointed to European-based sales and marketing positions of increasing responsibility. Herbert also serves as vice president of the Proprietary Association of Great Britain, which represents the over-the-counter (OTC) products industry. He will be based at Sterling Health Europe headquarters in Paris.
 In addition to the newly created position of executive vice president for marketing, Sterling Health Europe, Culligan also assumes the title of regional director, Northern Europe, with responsibilities for Sterling Health Benelux, Scandinavia, Germany and Switzerland. She will report to Herbert.
 Culligan joined Sterling Winthrop in the United States in 1988 and prior to her responsibilities in Europe was vice president, marketing, Sterling Winthrop Consumer Health Group.
 Read, previously marketing director, Sterling Health UK, has been promoted to the position of managing director, Sterling Health UK and Ireland, succeeding Herbert.
 Prior to joining Sterling Winthrop in 1990, Read worked for Schering-Plough, where he was divisional director for the company's consumer health division in the United Kingdom.
 Sterling Winthrop Inc., with headquarters in New York, is a global developer, manufacturer and marketer of pharmaceuticals and consumer health products.
