STERLING HEALTH TO LAUNCH CONSUMER MEDICINES BUSINESS
 IN CZECHOSLOVAKIA, HUNGARY AND POLAND
NEW YORK, April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Sterling Winthrop Inc.'s Sterling Health division, the leading marketer of consumer health products in Western Europe, announced today it is launching its business in Central and Eastern Europe with a program to support pharmacists in running their own businesses.
Sterling Health, which has established subsidiaries in Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Poland, will conduct seminars in six cities in the three countries to support pharmacists in developing free- enterprise skills to handle the demand for self-treatment medications.
Initially, Sterling Health will make available to the new markets Panadol analgesics, Andrews gastro-intestinal remedy and Milk of Magnesia and Califig laxatives. Additional products to be introduced later in the year will expand the range of analgesic and gastro- intestinal consumer products.
At the seminar, practical issues such as shop design to facilitate pharmacist/patient consultations will be demonstrated with the aid of a road trailer outfitted as a modern pharmacy. The pharmacists will be coached in cash management, merchandising, inventory control, wholesaler relationships and advertising and promotion. Sterling Health expects to run more pharmacy education and information programs over the coming years.
Sterling Health, a worldwide producer and marketer of consumer health products, will enter the new markets with fully trained national marketing and sales forces. In each country, it has established warehousing to ensure continuity of supplies. Sterling Health is a division of Sterling Winthrop Inc., a leading developer, manufacturer and marketer of pharmaceuticals and consumer health products. Sterling Winthrop, a subsidiary of Eastman Kodak Company (NYSE: EK), is headquartered in New York City.
