 WALTHAM, Mass., Aug. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Sterling Bank, a wholly- owned subsidiary of Sterling Bancshares Corporation (NASDAQ: STLG), has appointed the following to the position of vice president:
 -- Eric B. Loth, 51, to vice president - division head in charge of commercial lending. Loth has been involved in commercial lending in the Boston area for over 25 years. Prior to joining Sterling Bank, he most recently was with Salem Five Cents Savings Bank and held the position of senior vice president. In this position, he was responsible for the commercial and installment loan departments.
 Loth is a graduate of Bowdoin College and received his MBA from Boston College. He is a resident of North Andover, Mass.
 -- Jane Donohue, 31, to vice president - marketing. In this position she is responsible for managing the bank's marketing communications function.
 Donohue joined the marketing department in 1987 as a marketing representative, advancing to assistant vice president in 1991. Prior to joining Sterling, Donohue was director of development at the Charles River Museum of Industry in Waltham.
 Donohue is a director at the Waltham Boys & Girls Club and the Fund for the Arts in Newton, Mass. and a corporator at the Charles River Museum of Industry. In addition, she is a member of the Bank Marketing Association.
 She is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts and the Bank Marketing Association School of Bank Marketing at the University of Colorado. She is a resident of Cambridge, Mass.
 -- James J. Dell'Anno, 32, to vice president - residential/consumer lending. In this position, he is responsible for the processing, underwriting, closing and secondary market functions of residential mortgages and consumer loans.
 Dell'Anno joined Sterling in 1989 as a mortgage officer, advancing to assistant vice president in 1991. Prior to joining Sterling, from 1986 to 1989 he was with the Digital Employees Federal Credit Union, most recently holding the position of senior mortgage underwriter.
 He is a member of the Massachusetts Mortgage Bankers Association, on the board of governors of the Massachusetts Young Mortgage Bankers Association and an affiliate member of the Eastern Massachusetts Board of Realtors. Dell'Anno received his associates degree from the New England Banking Institute. He is a resident of Sudbury, Mass.
 -- Michael Magnuson, 39, to vice president - commercial lending. In this position he is responsible for underwriting new commercial loans and managing existing commercial relationships.
 Prior to joining Sterling in 1991 as assistant vice president -- commercial lending, Magnuson was with Shawmut Bank where he most recently held the position of assistant vice president in the commercial lending division.
 Magnuson received his undergraduate and MBA from Babson College. He is a resident of Milton, Mass.
 -- Sue L. Hickey, 61, to vice president. In this position she is responsible for Sterling Bank's Community Reinvestment Program, which focuses on determining and implementing activities that meet the credit needs of the bank's low and moderate income communities.
 Hickey joined Sterling in 1989 as compliance/community reinvestment officer, advancing to assistant vice president in 1991. Prior to joining Sterling, from 1976 to 1989, she was with the Massachusetts Executive Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, Division of Banks. At the Division of Banks, she held positions of director of community development and outreach, school bank coordinator and director of equal credit opportunity.
 Hickey is a member of the Downtown Revitalization Program in Waltham, The Waltham Housing Partnership and is a board member of the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Eastern Massachusetts. She also serves on the Massachusetts School Bank Association. She is a resident of Newton, Mass.
