STEMPEL RE-ELECTED CHAIRMAN OF MOTOR VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION;
 OTHER OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS ELECTED
 DETROIT, June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert C. Stempel, chairman and chief executive officer of General Motors Corporation (NYSE: GM), today was re-elected chairman of the board of directors of the Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association of the United States, Inc. (MVMA). Stempel's second one-year term starts July 1.
 Also elected were Robert J. Eaton, vice chairman and chief operating officer, Chrysler Corporation (NYSE: C), vice chairman; James C. Cotting, chairman and chief executive officer, Navistar International Transportation Corp., treasurer; and Harold A. Poling, chairman and chief executive officer, Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F), secretary.
 Thomas H. Hanna, MVMA president and chief executive officer, was re-elected.
 Elected to three-year terms on the MVMA board were: Robert A. Perkins, vice president-Washington Affairs, Chrysler Corporation; Helen O. Petrauskas, vice president, Environmental & Safety Engineering Staff, Ford Motor Company; F. Alan Smith, executive vice president, General Motors Corporation; Cotting and Hanna.
 Elected to two-year terms were: James D. Johnston, vice president, Industry/Government Relations, and John F. Smith, president and chief operating officer, both of General Motors Corporation; and Eaton.
 Toyoji Yashiki, president, Honda of America Mfg., Inc., was elected to a one-year term.
 Other directors continuing on the board are: Albert R. Dowden, president and chief executive officer, Volvo North America Corporation; Robert A. Lutz, president, Chrysler Corporation; Brian B. Whalen, vice president-Public Affairs, Navistar International Transportation Corp.; Philip E. Benton Jr., president and chief operating officer, Ford Motor Company; Scott N. Whitlock, executive vice president, Honda of America Mfg., Inc.; and Poling and Stempel.
 Hanna was re-appointed chairman of the executive committee whose members are Johnston, Perkins, Petrauskas, Whalen and Whitlock.
 MVMA is the trade association for domestic motor vehicle manufacturers with principal offices in Detroit and Washington. It also maintains regional offices in Tallahassee (Fla.), Denver, Oklahoma City, Sacramento (Calif.), St. Paul (Minn.) and Lynbrook, Long Island.
 Its members are Chrysler Corporation; Ford Motor Company; General Motors Corporation; Honda of America Mfg., Inc.; Navistar International Transportation Corp., PACCAR Inc.; and Volvo North America Corporation.
