STEELCASE SETS NEW QUICK-DELIVERY STANDARDS WITH 48-HOUR AND 12-DAY PROGRAMS

 STEELCASE SETS NEW QUICK-DELIVERY STANDARDS
 WITH 48-HOUR AND 12-DAY PROGRAMS
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Steelcase Inc. today announced the launch of two new quick-delivery programs which set new standards in customer service for the contract furniture industry. The first, called Special Delivery, boasts the fastest actual delivery -- within 48 hours. The second program, Express 12(SM), offers delivery of the broadest range of products -- more than 10,000 -- in 12 days.
"Dependable delivery times are a critical factor for all businesses today," James P. Hackett, senior vice president, sales and marketing at Steelcase Inc., said. "These new programs focus on actual delivery rather than the traditional industry position of promoting shipping time when actual delivery might take as much as two weeks or longer. Customers want to know when their furniture order will arrive at their front door -- not when it leaves the manufacturer's back door."
Steelcase spent more than a year developing the two programs, Hackett said. "The ability to deliver products in a timely, responsive way is a key criteria for customers in selecting an office furniture manufacturer," he explained. "We reengineered our manufacturing and order-entry processes to give customers the best of all worlds -- speed and breadth of line."
The programs are designed to serve the needs of both large corporations with emergency furniture needs, as well as small to mid- sized firms.
The Special Delivery program makes nearly 300 Steelcase office furniture production selections available in just 48 hours -- less than half the time of any competitor.
The most comprehensive program, Express 12, includes 80 percent of what Steelcase makes -- more than 10,000 different models and literally millions of possible selections. The Express 12 program includes systems furniture, chairs, desks, files, conference and occasional tables, bookcases and computer furniture. The program is so broad that nearly 1 million different fabric, color and style options are available for office seating alone. Select products are also available from the Steelcase Design Partnership companies.
Both programs are available through more than 500 Steelcase dealers in the United States and Canada. The company will promote both quick - delivery programs through national and trade advertising campaigns beginning in April.
A 32-page full-color catalog is available on Special Delivery; a 100-page illustrated handbook lists products available on the Express 12 program.
Steelcase Inc. is the world's leading designer and manufacturer of office furniture. Headquartered in Grand Rapids, it has operations throughout North America, Europe and the Far East.
