STATUS UPDATE ON UNION TALKS WITH AT&T
STATUS UPDATE ON UNION TALKS WITH AT&T WASHINGTON, May 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Intense negotiations have been
taking place throughout the afternoon between union and AT&T negotiators as the parties attempt to reach a national agreement on behalf of 127,000 workers before the present contract expires at midnight tonight, EDT.
Union bargainers said at 6:30 p.m. that the parties remain far apart in the key area of employment security, as well as other issues. Some progress was reported in wage and pension discussions today, but the unions stressed that both of these issues remain sticking points. Bargaining is continuing. CWA's information office will remain open during the course of tonight's negotiations, and periodic updates will be issued. -0- 5/30/92 /CONTACT: Jeff Miller or Gaye Williams Mack of CWA, 202-434-1172/ (T) CO: Communication Workers of America; AT&T ST: District of Columbia IN: TLS SU: SH -- NY001 -- 5428 05/30/92 20:09 EDT
