 STATESWEST HITS ALL TIME RECORD JULY PASSENGER BOARDINGS AND
 ANNOUNCES NEW SERVICE BETWEEN PALM SPRINGS, CALIF., AND PHOENIX
 PHOENIX, Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- StatesWest Airlines Inc. reported July passenger enplanements were up 21.1 percent to 33,254, compared to 27,470 for July 1991. The carrier's July 1992 traffic capacity was 9,719,828 available seat miles (ASM) producing a load factor of 48.3 percent. ASMs for July 1991 totaled 11,312,066 producing a load factor for that period of 43.8 percent. Revenue passenger miles (RPM) for July 1992 totaled 4,698,650, a decrease of 5.2 percent, compared to 4,957,097 for July 1991.
 Rudy R. Miller, StatesWest's chairman, president and chief executive officer, said, "The airline recorded its highest July load factor in its history, as well as breaking June's record passenger boardings to post the second-highest number of passengers ever to fly on StatesWest Airlines. The July operating results are a key trend in our controlled growth strategy." Miller continued, "We are pleased to announce new service between Palm Springs, Calif., and Phoenix, Ariz., with two round-trip flights effective Oct. 1, 1992."
 Miller concluded, "The strong commitment by StatesWest employees has played a major role in helping the airline make great strides in improving our operational and financial performance in a tough economic environment."

 StatesWest operates under code-share agreements with both USAir and Northwest Airlines feeding flights for the total travel network for USAir, and flights to the Pacific Rim system for Northwest Airlines. Traffic flows through the hub cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco. The airline operates approximately 4,000 monthly departures serving 12 western cities.
