 STATESWEST AIRLINES POSTS STRONG APRIL ENPLANEMENTS
 PHOENIX, May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- StatesWest Airlines Inc. reported


April 1992 passenger enplanements were up 10.8 percent to 27,591, compared to 24,894 for April 1991. The carrier's April 1992 traffic capacity was 10,568,609 available seat miles (ASM) producing a load factor of 40.0 percent. ASM's for April 1991 totaled 14,158,507 producing a load factor for that period of 35.2 percent. Revenue passenger miles (RPM) for April 1992 totaled 4,222,786, a decrease of 15.3 percent, compared to 4,987,121 for April 1991.
 Rudy R. Miller, StatesWest's chairman and president, stated, "StatesWest carried a record number of passengers for the month despite a large number of flight cancellations the last two days of April due to the unrest in Los Angeles. The first few days of May traffic in Los Angeles were also affected," Miller continued, "but traffic is now back to normal passenger levels. Initial passenger results for May are extremely strong and are up over the last year for the same period."
 Miller concluded, "The recent simplification of airfares has had a positive effect on business passenger bookings and is generating strong advance bookings for StatesWest's markets."

 StatesWest operates under code-share agreements in 12 cities with both USAir and Northwest Airlines feeding flights for the total travel network for USAir and flights to the Pacific Rim system for Northwest Airlines. Traffic flows through the hub cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco.
