 STATER BROS. MARKETS OPENS NEW RIALTO SUPERMARKET
 RIALTO, Calif., Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The No. 1 supermarket chain


in the greater Inland Empire, proudly serving the "heartland" of Southern California, has scheduled the opening of the second of three new supermarket locations in Rialto on Thursday, Feb. 27, 1992. Each of the three new locations will replace existing Stater Bros. Markets locations. Stater Bros. has been serving the Rialto area since 1938.
 The new north Rialto Stater Bros. supermarket is located at the northeast corner of Riverside Avenue and Baseline Road, across the street from the existing smaller Stater Bros. supermarket, and will anchor the 11-acre North Rialto Center. The new Stater Bros. supermarket is 35,232 square feet in size, approximately 40 percent larger than the existing Stater Bros. supermarket.
 New departments are among the many new features. A "fresh" on- premises service bakery features daily baked breads and pastries, a full-service delicatessen and take-out food department features party trays, deli meats, cheeses and salads, and assorted hot take-out foods. In addition, Stater Bros. "award-winning blue ribbon" meat department and "garden fresh" produce department have been expanded. More than 26,000 items will be featured at Stater Bros.' famous low, low prices. Stater Bros. markets is the "low price" leader in the "heartland" of Southern California.

Brown, chairman, president and chief executive officer, stated: "Our new supermarket in north Rialto is the second of three new Stater Bros. supermarkets scheduled to serve the growing need of the city of Rialto. These new expanded Stater Bros. markets will serve our 'valued' customers better. The new Stater Bros. features wider aisles, more checkstands, and new hot bakery and full-service delicatessen departments. Our 'valued' north Rialto customers have been able to watch the construction of their new 40 percent larger supermarket as they have shopped 'next door' at their 'old' north Rialto store. We are proud to provide this new and modern supermarket in the North Rialto Center which will serve the residents of the north Rialto area for many years to come."

Thursday only -- 8:30 a.m., grand opening-ribbon cutting: Eisenhower Eagles Marching Band and Pageantry will be performing. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday -- 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Wonder Bread's Freddie the Fresh Guy, Keebler's Ernie the Elf, and Hostess' Twinkie the Kid will be presenting kids with goodies.
 Thursday, Friday, and Saturday -- 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.: Free ice cream cones for everyone. 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.: Free balloons for the kids. Free bags of groceries will be given away throughout the day. Also, there will be many opportunities to win one of the many valuable prizes to be given out during the three big days of the grand opening.
