STATEMENT FROM VICE PRESIDENT FOODLAND GROUP
AND OWNER OF FOUR FOODLAND STORES
PITTSBURGH, June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The following statement was issued today by Wade Martin, vice president Foodland Group and owner of four Foodland stores:
"In the wake of the recent Wetterau-Super Valu merger announcement, the Foodland stores want to assure all of our loyal customers, vendors and especially our employees that Foodland stores will continue to operate. All Foodland stores are independently owned, entrepreneurial businesses, and are not affected by this move in any way.
"Our stores are open, will remain open and we continue to look forward to serving our customers.
"Foodland has been operating in this market for 29 years and has earned a deserved reputation for providing the best possible service and value to our customers and we will continue to do everything possible to maintain that reputation.
"Foodland stores are still serviced by the Wetterau Corporation and we look forward to many more years of working together. Foodland is a strong, viable independently owned group of supermarkets engaged in a highly competitive business. We look forward to a future of continued service to our loyal customers."
