      STATEMENT FROM E-II HOLDINGS REGARDING MCCRORY BANKRUPTCY
    NEW YORK, Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The recent announcement that McCrory Corporation has filed for Chapter 11 protection under U.S. bankruptcy law does not affect the ongoing operations of E-II or its independently operated subsidiaries; Samsonite; Culligan International; McGregor Corporation, including its 500 Fashion Group, Anvil Knitwear and Global Licensing operations.
    In December, 1990, the McCrory Corporation ceased to be part of E-II Holdings, Inc.  E-II Holdings has no operational involvement in McCrory's.
