STATEMENT FROM CHRYSLER CORPORATION IN RESPONSE TO THE PRESIDENT'S NATIONAL HEALTH CARE REFORM PROPOSAL

WASHINGTON, Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Chrysler Corporation (NYSE: C) issued the following:
We congratulate President Clinton for proposing a comprehensive health reform plan.
The businesses of this country, particularly manufacturing concerns, are burdened with disproportionately high health costs which hinder our international competitiveness. Likewise, American citizens have seen rising health costs squeeze their standard of living. By proposing a plan which covers all Americans, which controls overall health spending and which spreads costs fairly throughout the economy, the president's plan is properly focused. Reducing the burden of health costs will help stimulate the economy and promote job growth.
We look forward to working with the administration and Congress to assure enactment of sound health reform legislation.
