STATEMENT BY OGILVY & MATHER SOUTH REGARDING AIDS AD

ATLANTA, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The following was released today by Ogilvy & Mather South:
Ogilvy & Mather South apologizes and accepts full responsibility for recruiting and selecting Anthony Kiedis to appear in this new public service announcement. As part of the talent negotiation process, we require full disclosure of prior criminal arrests and convictions. We are withdrawing the new ad and terminating all distribution. At this point, no ads have been distributed to local stations for airplay. As soon as we were informed about Kiedis' 1990 criminal conviction, we eliminated the spot from our campaign. While we regret this occurrence, we want to reinforce the vital importance of the new, lifesaving HIV prevention messages for young adults contained in the 12 other new ads and collateral materials that were recently released.
