STATEMENT BY L.A. IACOCCA ON THE DEPARTURE OF
ROBERT S. MILLER JR., VICE CHAIRMAN, CHRYSLER CORPORATION
HIGHLAND PARK, Mich., Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Following is a statement by Lee A. Iacocca, chairman of the board of Chrysler Corporation (NYSE: C).
It's with regret that we accept Steve Miller's decision to leave Chrysler for a position with James D. Wolfensohn Inc. as Senior Partner. He joined Chrysler at a most difficult time and was a key player on a team that faced disaster but went on to enjoy great success. We will miss his valuable contributions to our company and our community.
Despite our personal disappointment with Steve's departure, we realize that this is an outstanding opportunity for him. We know he will be very successful in his new capacity.
Because Steve has been intimately involved in the affairs of our Chrysler Financial Corporation subsidiary, including pending negotiations with its bank lenders, I have asked him and the Wolfensohn firm to serve in an advisory capacity during these negotiations.
Steve's departure comes when the Chrysler Board of Directors is in the process of selecting a replacement for me by the end of 1992. He was one of several outstanding candidates under consideration. The selection process will continue unchanged.
We all will miss Steve Miller for many reasons but most importantly, because he is a very good friend. We wish him nothing but the best.
