STATEMENT BY CHRYSLER CHAIRMAN LEE A. IACOCCA
ON RESIGNATION OF GM CHAIRMAN ROBERT C. STEMPEL
HIGHLAND PARK, Mich., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The following is a statement by Chrysler Corporation Chairman Lee A. Iacocca on General Motors Corporation Chairman Robert C. Stempel's resignation:
Bob Stempel has had a long and distinguished career at General Motors and it's disappointing to see it end this way. I know this was a most difficult decision and I wish him and his family nothing but the best.
All of us in the U.S. auto industry have been through very tough times in recent years and certainly GM and Bob Stempel have had their share of challenges. The entire domestic auto industry, and the country, benefit from a healthy General Motors and we are confident, given the quality of their people, that GM will remain an effective and formidable competitor for years to come.
