STATEMENT BY CHRYSLER CHAIRMAN L.A. IACOCCA RE: MR. KIRK KERKORIAN
HIGHLAND PARK, Mich., Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Statement by Chrysler Chairman L.A. Iacocca re: Mr. Kirk Kerkorian:
I have spoken to Mr. Kerkorian concerning his letter to Chrysler's Board of Directors. I am flattered by his confidence in me. At the same time, I have complete confidence in the management team at Chrysler, and Mr. Kerkorian told me that he shares that confidence. A meeting between Mr. Kerkorian's representatives and Chrysler will be held in the near future.
My plans are unchanged. I will step down as Chairman and CEO of Chrysler Dec. 31, 1992, but will continue to serve as an active member of the Board and as Chairman of its Executive Committee.
Bob Eaton will be an outstanding leader for the company in the future. Together with Bob Lutz and the other officers and executives at Chrysler, I'm convinced we have the strongest management team in the industry.
Chrysler is poised for the future. We have an outstanding product line and aggressive plans for continued growth and improvement. I feel very comfortable with the state of the company, proud of what we've accomplished, and enthusiastic about what lies ahead.
