STATE REVOKES FAMILY DAY CARE LICENSE OF RED BLUFF WOMAN

SACRAMENTO, Calif., June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The California Department of Social Services has revoked the family day care home license of Evelyn Curry of Red Bluff, on charges of inadequate supervision which contributed to violation of the personal rights of children in her care.
"Most family day care homes in California provide loving, supportive environments for children," said Eloise Anderson, director of the department. "However, when we find licensed operators who fail to comply with state licensing requirements established to ensure the health and safety of children in care, it's essential we protect the children by revoking the license."
The license revocation became effective June 7, 1993. Curry was originally licensed Sept. 21, 1988, with a capacity of 12 children. On April 1, 1993, the department placed the facility license on temporary suspension.
Family day care homes provide care for youngsters who need non- medical care and supervision for periods of less than 24 hours in a homelike setting. There are more than 47,500 licensed family day care homes in California, providing care for over 339,000 children. In Tehama County alone, more than 120 licensed homes provide care for over 800 children.
For information regarding family day care, to file a complaint or to inquire about becoming a licensed family day care provider contact the California Department of Social Services' Community Care Licensing office at 520 Cohasset Rd., Suite 6, Chico. Their telephone number is 916-895-5033.
